RESPECT
Normally, during the first weekend of September, the “Vredesfeesten” or Balloon Festivities take place in Sint-Niklaas. An event that has been organised since the end Second World War to celebrate the liberation of the city. Due to the COVID-19 epidemic this year, the festivities have been cancelled. The RESPECT action is the alternative that the organisation has set up.
BALLOONS FROM PLANT SVK
SVK provided a large field of which 8 balloons could take off on both Saturday and Sunday. Despite the nice weather last Saturday, there was still too much wind and unfortunately the balloons could not take off. Sunday the balloonists were luckier and so 8 balloons took off from SVK.
GIGANTIC BANNER
As a company, we wanted to add extra strength to the action and for this we made a gigantic banner that was clearly visible from up in the air. We believe it's phenomenal what these people have achieved for us as a society over the past few months. There are no words to describe this. It is therefore important that we do not forget what they have done for us. We’ve placed the big banner, to make that clear to them. As a company, we are therefore also pleased that the organisers asked us to support this great event.
PRIME MINISTER AT SVK
Our current Prime Minister, Sophie Wilmès, was also present on our plant. Normally she would also take off here. Unfortunately, on Saturday the wind was to heavy and no balloons could take off from the plant. They got lucky on Sunday and so a lot of the caretakers took off from SVK then.
