This unique home is located on a nature reserve in Noorden (Netherlands). The house is placed widthwise on the plot to create the maximum connection with the water.

There used to be greenhouses on the plot and the architect wanted to approach the typology of the greenhouses with the use of slates. The fairly standard roof pitch and also the façade and roof are therefore made of the same material, i.e. fibre cement slates.

The natural grey Ardonit slates have a nuanced subtle appearance. The slight shade difference per slate makes the whole look much more natural. Moreover, the diamond shape that is perpendicular to the façade gives it the feel of a scale.
