What are the guidelines for maintaining SVK facade panels?
Over time, a wall cladding panel becomes dirty by depositing dust and other pollution present in the air and precipitation. Thanks to their very low porosity, Ornimat and Decoboard Classic & Decoboard Pure wall cladding panels are less subject to this phenomenon than more porous panels. We recommend cleaning wall cladding panels on a regular basis. This prevents dirt from settling stubbornly on the surface and reducing the durability of the finishing coat. The frequency of cleaning depends on the environment and the type of cladding panel used. Ornimat/Decoboard: for ordinary maintenance, use a neutral, non-abrasive all-purpose cleaner with good lather. Respect the recommended dilution. Certainly do not use soaps with linseed oil, nor ordinary dishwasher detergent. Test the used product on a small area first.
- Clean with a sponge or soft, clean cloth. For large surfaces, a SOFT brush can be used for soaping, but make sure that hard parts of the brush do not scratch the plate.
- Avoid hard scrubbing, this causes a "polishing effect" which slightly changes the aspect of the plate.
- Do not let the soap solution dry out.
- Rinse generously with water.
- For rinsing, use water sprayed over the surface without pressure (e.g. a garden hose, where the water is sprayed onto the slab at a wide angle). Avoid spraying water straight into the joints. When using the latter method, it is absolutely essential that the rear construction is 100 % correct in terms of drainage, ventilation and water tightness.
- Puro Plus/Colormat Classic/Colormat Scripto: For ordinary maintenance, the cladding panels are rinsed with water sprayed over the surface without pressure (e.g. a garden hose, where the water is sprayed onto the panel at a wide angle). Avoid spraying water straight into the joints. Before cleaning, ensure that the rear construction is 100 % correct in terms of water drainage, ventilation and water tightness. First and foremost, we recommend that contamination, and especially uneven contamination, is minimised by careful detailing. Provide good seals, crossings, drip strips, etc., avoid runners made of corroded materials such as copper, zinc, lead, etc.
