The Free Primary School in Sint-Eloois-Winkel was extended with a new school building in Kloosterstraat. This school building includes classrooms, a refectory, an administrative section and an indoor play area.

The new building is linked to the existing school building, with the façade of the upper floors being fitted with cloud-grey Ardonit glazing by SVK.

The architect, Group III from Bruges, chose SVK's cloud-grey slates.

Thanks to the small-scale material, the relatively large building fits in better with the streetscape yet is more tailored to the schoolchildren. The price/quality ratio and the high durability of the slates played a major influence on the decision to work with this product.

The light grey colour of the fibre cement slates is matched to a newer part of the existing school building and contrasts with the oldest part of the school. Combining it with the bright yellow windows, it exudes tranquillity but also playfulness, which in turn suits a primary school perfectly.
